when choosing a color, you should find an ''inspiration'' piece

to base ur design on (i.e. a pillow, piece of artwork, pottery etc.) &

choose all ur colors based on that piece.

artwork, you should maybe use more neautral shades. typically, it is a
good idea to avoid choosing too crazy of a color b/c if you get sick of
the decor you will have to find new accessories & if you have a really out
there color, you will have trouble matching & then will have to repaint.

you could do really warm, rich neutrals (like ur browns & golds) as ur base

colors on walls & large upholstery items, then accent with brighter
''Mexican'' colors & patterns in ur accessories. (Like pottery
collections, accent chairs / pillows, etc). If you like terracotta, You
may want to consider turquoise as another accent color, as it is a direct
compliment to terracotta on the color wheel. If you want to do a brightly
painted room or so, it is usually safest to try ur ''punch'' of color in
small rooms where they make a big impact (think powder rooms or guest bath
rooms).

Hope this helps.enjoy ur home.

Oh, & for the exterior paint color. If it is in Costa Rica, I am going to
bet that it is stucco & mediterranean style. A really rich terracotta
color on the exterior could be very nice.
